The family who owns this stone Tudor-style home in Maysville, KY, needed more space for a living / family room. The 100-year-old house sits on a hill overlooking the Ohio River. W+CO designed a one-story addition that coordinates with the original house without trying to match it exactly. A chimney venting the new fireplace inside was built of stone to carry over the original Tudor style. Inside, the new spacious living room and powder room are styled with traditional Mission-style furnishings and finishes. The addition was designed with French doors and transom windows on the front and back to capture views of the river and let the sun into the interior. Crown molding and dark-wood accents create a sophisticated, spacious environment for entertaining, reading and watching television.
